Lead Producer - TRIALS TO TRIUMPHS

Hosted by Netflix star, producer, and a proud Howard University graduate, Ashley Blaine Featherson-Jenkins, Trials to Triumphs features intimate and revealing conversations with today’s cultural trailblazers (Kelly Rowland, Robin Thede, Estelle, and more!). Guests dig deep and unpack the peaks and valleys of their lives, moments that have remained hidden from the public, and reveal how they’ve become who they are today. The interview-style show debuted on the Oprah Winfrey Network, which includes the popular Oprah’s Super Soul podcast and was named one of Variety’s Best New Podcasts of 2022.

During season one, I served as an Associate Producer. I booked high-profile guests, conducted general research, and prepared interview questions for the host. I wrote host scripts, produced interviews and VO recording sessions, made tape selects, transcribed tape, and story-edited transcripts. I also provided editorial feedback throughout the production process.

During season two, I served as Lead Producer. I supervised the show from pre-production through post-production managing a team of producers and engineers, and organizing deadlines to keep everyone on track for timely creative deliverables. I led biweekly development meetings with the client and host throughout the process, brainstorming relevant guests and show topics for the season and ensuring client needs were effectively communicated to the production team. I ran remote recording sessions and coached on-mic talent during script tracking sessions. I story-edited 75-90 minute interviews, producing 40-minute episodes. I also quality-checked audio drafts, coordinated all revisions, and crafted episode copy to prepare the episode for publication.

During season two, the show evolved from audio-only to a video podcast and I coordinated our remote and in-person interviews (recorded at Spotify Studios LA.)
